NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 8, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team received a goal from four different players in a 4-0 victory over Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-0 on the season and has recorded a shutout in 11 of their last 13 wins, dating back to last season. Mount Holyoke drops to 0-2-1.
Senior
Ashley Reis (Stowe, Vt.) put the Chargers on top in the 14th minute when she broke away from the defenders and swerved past the goalie for a shot into an open net. The goal was her first of the season.
Colby-Sawyer senior
Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) gave the home team a 2-0 advantage in the 21st minute when she finished a pass from junior
Lauren Bernard (Manchester, N.H.).
Sophomore
Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine) gave Colby-Sawyer a 3-0 lead before the half after she beat the defenders and hit a nifty chip over the goalie that found the back of the net. The goal was Little's team leading third of the season.
Senior
Colleen Coburn (Middletown, Conn.) added a fourth goal in the 87th minute off a pass from freshman
Rainie Hill (Proctorsville, Vt.). Coburn had a clean view of the net and bent the ball away from the keeper into the left corner.
Senior Mallory Phaneuf (Manchester, N.H.) recorded a team-high three shots for Mount Holyoke.
Colby-Sawyer keeper
Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) made three stops for her third clean sheet of the season. Mount Holyoke goalie Mackenzie Randall (Harwinton, Conn.) had 11 saves.
Colby-Sawyer hosts Gordon on Tuesday at 4:00 pm, while the Mount Holyoke travels to Amherst on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm contest.
