NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 2, 2012 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team came from behind to defeat Plymouth 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 2-0, while Plymouth drops to 0-2.

Colby-Sawyer controlled play throughout the first half taking 13 shots, but could not get on the scoreboard. With one minute left to play in the frame, Plymouth made a run towards goal. Colby-Sawyer keeper Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) attempted to come out to challenge the play, but got called for a foul in the box. Junior Sam D'Agati (Reading, Mass.) took the penalty kick and ripped a shot into the lower left corner of the net to give Plymouth a 1-0 lead.

The Chargers tied the game in the 54th minute when junior Stephanie Huntley (Woodbury, Conn.) bent a free kick into the back of the net from 25 yards out.

Less than five minutes later, sophomore Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine) dribbled through traffic to create a scoring chance. As the Plymouth goalie came off the crease, Little scored on a shot into the opposite corner of the net for her first goal of the season.

In the 82nd minute, Plymouth had a chance to knot the score when sophomore Emily Bell (Derry, N.H.) fired a shot over Spencer. The ball hit off the crossbar and deflected to junior Cassie Graham (Foster, R.I.) who ripped a shot, but was denied by the Colby-Sawyer keeper.

Spencer had two saves in the win for Colby-Sawyer. Plymouth senior goalie Chelsea Duval (Dover, N.H.) collected five saves in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer outshot Plymouth 22-6.

The Chargers will host Norwich on Wednesday at 4:00 pm, while Plymouth will host Bridgewater State on Saturday at 4:30 pm.
