Women's Soccer Ties Becker, 1-1

LEICESTER, MASS. – September 15, 2012 - Becker College and Colby-Sawyer College played to a 1-1 stalemate in non-conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The tie moves the Hawks to 2-2-1 on the season and the Chargers go to 5-1-1.

The two teams played a scoreless first half, with the Chargers holding an 8-7 shot advantage at the break.

The Hawks got on the board 2:07 into the second half.  Keri Richardson (Douglas, Mass.) fed Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.), who scored while being dragged to the ground. The Chargers answered back in the 66th minute when Morgan Ekstrom (Wolfeboro, N.H.) nailed a header into the top left corner of the net, tying the game at 1-1.

Colby-Sawyer goalkeeper Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) made nine saves in the game. The Chargers will return to action on Tuesday, September 18th when they host Curry College at 4pm.

Becker keeper Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) also turned away nine shots on the afternoon. The Hawks get back to work on Tuesday, September 18th when they travel to Nichols College for a 4pm tilt with the Bison.
