Box Score BOX SCORE

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2012 – Freshman Tallon Tomasi (Berkshire, Vt.) broke a streak of 323 consecutive scoreless minutes between Colby-Sawyer and Johnson State, dating back to last season, to give the Chargers a 1-0 win in the second overtime of Sunday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game.

The two teams met twice last season and played to a 0-0 tie each time. The second meeting was in the NAC playoffs and the Chargers advanced on penalty kicks.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 10-2-3 overall, marking the seventh time in school history that the program has reached double-figure wins. The Chargers also move into sole possession of second place in the NAC standings with a record of 6-0-1. Johnson falls to 6-6-2 and 2-3-2 in conference play, ranking them sixth in the standings.

Colby-Sawyer dominated play throughout the game and struck the crossbar and posts on several occasions. Nevertheless, the game remained knotted at 0-0 until Tomasi scored on a breakaway goal in the second overtime.

Junior teammate Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) was dribbling down the right flank and drew the Johnson defender, leaving Tomasi streaking towards the goal by herself. As the goalie came out to challenge, Tomasi found an angle and hit the back of the net for the game-winner.

Senior Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) made three saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season. Johnson keeper Katja Langmaid (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) made 15 saves, including several spectacular diving efforts.

Colby-Sawyer outshot the Badgers 28-3 and held a 14-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Chargers will step out of conference action and host Worcester State on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.  Johnson State hosts Castleton on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
