NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 13, 2012 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team blanked the visiting Hornets of Lyndon, 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 9-2-3 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play, which is good for a second place tie in the standings. Lyndon falls to 2-10-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the NAC.

Sophomore Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine) scored a pair of first half goals to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead at the break. Both of Little's shots mimicked each other as she sent a towering ball towards the net that got in just under the crossbar and just over the keeper. The goals were her fourth and fifth of the season.

Senior Laurel Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) scored Colby-Sawyer's third goal of the game in the 59th minute when she finished a nice cross from junior Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.).

Senior Ashley Reis (Stowe, Vt.) scored seven minutes later off her own rebound. Her first attempt was saved by the Lyndon keeper, but she got the rebound and found the right side of the net for her second goal of the season.

Freshman Vicky Driscoll (Norwood, Mass.) added a fifth goal in the 84th minute after receiving a pass from Reis. The goal was Driscoll's first collegiate tally.

Colby-Sawyer keeper Shay Spencer (Natick, Mass.) was not challenged in 79 minutes and freshman Hailey Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) worked the final 11 minutes to combine for the team's eighth clean sheet of the season. Lyndon senior goalie Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) made 13 saves in the loss.

The Chargers held a 23-1 edge in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corners.

The Chargers will host Johnson State tomorrow at 12:30 pm, while Lyndon travels to Henniker to play New England College at noon.
