Adrienne Bender Scores Twice in 2-0 Win over Lyndon

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — October 15, 2011 - Adrienne Bender scored two goals to lead Colby-Sawyer to a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer victory over Lyndon Saturday.

Bender opened the scoring in the contest at the 4:48 mark when she teed up a shot from 25 meters out and beat Hornet goalie Tia Billado with a shot into the lower left corner of the net. Abi Wurtele drew an assist on the play.

Twenty-minutes later, Bender tallied the last goal of the game with a blast into the upper left corner of the net. The goal was unassisted.

Bender now has 14 goals and two assists on the season totalling 30 points. She currently ranks third on the single season records list for goals and points.

Shalyn Spencer made four saves for the Chargers (10-5, 6-0) while Billado stopped one shot for Lyndon (7-6-1, 2-3-1). Colby-Sawyer held a 10-5 advantage in shots in the contest.

The Chargers return to action tomorrow at noon when they travel to Johnson, Vt. to face Johnson State. The Hornets will play host to New England College at the Lyndon Athletics Field. Game time is scheduled for noon.
