Women's Soccer Improves to 3-0 in the NAC

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 1, 2011 – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team improved to 3-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) after a 2-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington, on Saturday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer's record improves to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. UMF dips to 3-4-2 overall and pulls even at 2-2 in conference play.

Colby-Sawyer senior Andi Logan (Eliot, Maine) scored what proved to be the game-winner just six minutes into the contest. The goal was her second of the season.

The Chargers added an insurance goal early in the second half. Sophomore Stephanie Huntley (Woodbury, Conn.) connected with sophomore teammate Adrienne Bender (Wakefield, R.I.) who headed the ball past the UMF keeper for her team leading 11th goal of the season. The assist for Huntley was her third of the season.

Shalyn Spencer (Natick, Mass.) earned her fourth shutout of the season and made nine saves in the win. UMF goalie Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine) made seven saves in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer held a 21-12 advantage in shots.

Colby-Sawyer hosts Thomas on Sunday at 3:30pm, while UMF travels to play New England College at 2:30pm.
