Box Score
CASTLETON, Vt. - September 8, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team and Castleton State played to a 0-0 tie after regular time and two extra 10 minute sessions. The Chargers are now 1-1-1 on the season and will play their home opener on Thursday against Lasell.
The Chargers struggled to muster many offensive chances, while the Spartans controlled the ball for most of the game. Castleton State kept the heat on Colby-Sawyer sophomore keeper Allie Piper (Barre, VT) with five shots on goal but failed to score on some quality chances.
Late in the second overtime, Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, VT) was all alone after receiving a through pass but Piper came out of the box forcing Chadburn to shoot five feet wide of the net.
Moments earlier, Chadburn missed a chance to put the game on ice with a free kick from 22-yards out.
With four minutes remaining in the second overtime the Chargers got their best shot of the night from midfielder Emily Brown (Rye, NH).
Brown took a free kick just outside of the box that sliced away from Davis towards the right side of the net to keep the score knotted at 0-0.
