9585Shawn Dunstan turned in one of the most impressive careers on snow in men’s alpine ski program history. He has the distinction as the only male student-athlete to have earned the Charger Award for Outstanding Male Athlete three times.

His illustrious career began in grand fashion as he helped the Chargers win the 2009 United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Combined National Championship. Shawn earned USCSA All-American status in the slalom.

His next two year’s would be even more impressive as he competed in two-straight U.S. Alpine National Championships after being the top male American to finish at the USCSA National Championships. Shawn added six more All-American honors in those two years along with countless race victories, an Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC) Combined Regional title and a shared title.

As the Colby-Sawyer ski program transitioned from the USCSA to the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA), in Shawn’s final season, he continued to show that he is one of the best skiers to ever don the Colby-Sawyer uniform. Shawn's impressive season earned him a spot at the NCAA National Championships, which is an extremely exclusive championship with only 35 male student-athletes nationwide earning the right to race and is made up of mostly Division I and scholarship athletes. He is one of three Colby-Sawyer student-athletes to have competed at NCAA’s.
