Candi stands with husband Thayer
Candice (Corcoran) Raines began her diverse athletic career at Colby-Sawyer in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was a member of the inaugural Nordic Ski Team and also played field hockey, lacrosse and basketball for the Chargers. Her love of sport directed her to a career in physical education and adventure recreation where she has thrived for decades as an instructor, volunteer, and professor. Candi's athletic success on the regional, national and international levels have brought immense pride to the Colby-Sawyer community. She has shined on the world stage for many years in ski orienteering, foot orienteering, archery, archery biathlon, and Nordic skiing. For a twelve-year span beginning in 1998, Candi traveled the globe as a member of the US Ski Orienteering team and collected bronze and silver medals on home soil in Stowe, VT in 2014. In Foot Orienteering, she added a bronze medal in 2007 and a gold in 2009. Candi was part of the US Target Archery team at the Pan American Championships in Argentina when she took home a silver medal. She also earned multiple medals as a member of the US Archery Biathlon team. In Nordic skiing, Candi came away with 11 medals, including three gold, at marathon and masters competitions from 1999 to 2010. In addition to her medals, Candi has been recognized with numerous awards from the Vermont State Guard, Vermont Camp Association, and the 1980 Olympic Ski Patrol.
