Sophomore Emily Martin (Amesbury, Mass.) made a game-saving play early in the second half and won the game with a goal late in the first overtime to lift the Chargers to a 1-0 victory over Maine Maritime in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinals on Tuesday afternoon. The Mariners had the best chance of the contest eight minutes into the second half when NAC Rookie of the Year Makayla Lewis got behind the Colby-Sawyer goalie and took a shot to a seemingly open net. That's when Emily Martin stepped in to block the ball and save the day for the Chargers. The game-winning play by Martin came in the first overtime at 97:41. As each team tried to gain possession, Martin gathered the ball and ripped a shot from 25 yards out that hit off a player a few yards in front of her, which kept the ball on an upward trajectory ending up in the top left corner of the net. The goal was Martin's third of the season and second game-winner.
