Taylor DeSanty received the Charger Award for this year's Outstanding Female Athlete. The award is given to a female who has extraordinary athletic ability and has contributed the most to her team, the College and the world of sport. The award is a token of hard work, good judgment, understanding and determination. DeSanty has earned the award for the second time.

Taylor is a senior and a four-year member of the women's basketball team.

In 2012-2013, Taylor finished her illustrious career as simply one of the best to ever wear a uniform as a member of the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team. This season Taylor led the team and the North Atlantic Conference in scoring, averaging 16.9 points in all games and 19.3 points in NAC contests. This outstanding season helps complete her stellar career on the hardwood. Taylor will leave the David L. Coffin Fieldhouse as the all-time leader in points (1743), three-pointers (219) and field goals (649).

Taylor's fine season was recognized in many other ways. For her outstanding play Taylor was named:
-NAC Player of the Year (second straight year)
-NAC 1st Team (second straight year)
-NAC Tournament MVP
-NH D III Player of the Year (third straight year)
-NH D III 1st team (third straight year)
-NEWBA D III 3nd Team (second straight year)
-d3hoops.com All Region 3rd Team (second straight year)
- MVP of the 2012-13 Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team. (second straight year)

Taylor also earned numerous weekly awards this season, including several NAC Player of the Week and NEWBA Honor Roll awards.

Her determination and drive was instrumental in the team winning the NAC Championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament.  Both of these qualities were on display during her 27 point performance in the championship game, when she would not be denied reaching her individual and team goal of winning a conference championship.

"While her play on the court was unmatched, her leadership as one of this year's captains was every bit as important to the teams' success. Her work ethic and competitiveness set the tone every day in practice, and in every game we played. Taylor is a great example of what we as coaches would like all of our athletes to be, an outstanding student, a hard working athlete and someone that takes pride in whatever it is she does." - Head Coach George Martin
