Hayden led the Colby-Sawyer men's cross country team in a pair of races to begin the 2012 season. At the Mayflower Kickoff, hosted by New England College, Hayden set a school record in the 5k race at 16:35 and placed fourth. At the Smith Invitational, he finished second out of 110 competitors in a time of 27:00.63.
