AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 10, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team scored two runs in the top of the ninth to overcome a 7-6 deficit en route to an 8-7 victory over Drew. The Chargers are now 3-3 on their spring break trip with four games remaining.
Sophomore
Greg Doucette gave the Chargers a strong outing on the mound and surrendered just one run in seven innings. He gave up five hits and struck out three. However, with Colby-Sawyer holding a 6-1 advantage in the 8th, Albion rallied to score six times and take a 7-6 lead.
The Chargers came up with their own rally in the ninth as junior
Shane Hoagboon drove in
Chris Hartery, who had reached on a fielder's choice, for the game-winning run. Hoagboon finished 2-3 and a stolen base.
Senior
Carter Malpass earned the win setting down Albion in order in the bottom of the ninth. Junior
Brandon McFadden went 2-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases.
The team travels to Winter Haven, Florida tomorrow for a double-header with Wheaton College. First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 am.
