NEW LONDON, N.H. - November 10, 2010 - The Colby-Sawyer volleyball team advanced to the ECAC semifinals with a 3-1 win over Mount Ida Wednesday night. The Chargers move on to face TCCC rival Endicott College Saturday at 3:30pm in Beverly, Mass.
The Chargers, who reach the ECAC semis for the fifth season in a row, is now 20-14 on the season. 2010 marks the eighth consecutive season in which Colby-Sawyer has reached the 20-win plateau.
The first set was back and forth until four straight aces by senior
Michelle Doody helped the Chargers pull away for a 25-16 win.
The second set was closely contested with scrappy defensive play from both teams, but five kills from freshman
Emilee McBride in the set pushed the Chargers to a 25-20 win.
Colby-Sawyer was in position for the three-game sweep with a 16-11 lead, but the Mustangs battled back with six straight points to take the lead. After both teams exchanged rallies, Mount Ida finished the game on a 7-2 run to take game three 25-20.

Stef Turner, Colby-Sawyer pulled away for a 25-10 win.
Colby-Sawyer was led by a match high 21 kills from Doody. McBride added 10 and Turner eight. Freshman
Ally Le-Bruno, who was named TCCC Libero of the Year last week, continued her remarkable first year by adding 29 digs and setting a new single season record for digs. Le-Bruno surpasses the previous record of 724 held by Taylor Forsberg ('09) and is currently at 747 digs and an impressive 6.23 digs per set. The Chargers posted four players with double-digit digs including Le-Bruno, Doody with 12, and freshmen Courtney O'Hara and
Julia Yee each added 10.
Junior
Kristin Sawyer had 31 assists in the win.
The Chargers will travel to the ECAC number one seeded Endicott College on Saturday for the teams' third meeting of the year. The first semi-final match between Colby-Sawyer and Endicott will be held at 3:30pm at the Post Center in Beverly, Mass. The winner will face the winner of the second semifinal game between the #2 seed Keene State Owls and the #3 seed Plymouth State Panthers. The winners will play in the championship match at 5:30pm.
