Kevin Coyle Wins Triple Jump at Bryant; Qualifies for New England's and ECAC's
Amber Cronin Qualifies for New England's in the High Jump
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – March 28, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer track & field team began its 2009 regular season with a strong showing at Bryant University on Saturday, March 28. The Chargers were led by freshman Kevin Coyle (Bradford, N.H.) who won the triple jump with a distance of 13.49m. Coyle defeated multiple contestants from highly respectable Division I schools and qualified for the ECAC and New England Championships.
Sophomore co-captain Amber Cronin (Buxton, Maine) had a New England qualifying height of 1.50m and placed fifth overall in the high jump.
Sophomore Josh Commey (Trade-Fair, Calif.) finished 10th out of 29 runners in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.70 seconds.
The Charger relay teams also performed well throughout the afternoon. The men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400 teams qualified for the New England Championships that take place on May 1 at Springfield College.
The track & field team is back in action on Saturday, April 4. The Wildcat Invitational is held at the University of New Hampshire.
